Lieder Recital and Tango
»Der Mensch als Mann und Frau« / »A Person as Man and Woman«
Together with her dance partner Ulrich Steiner, soprano singer and dancer Sabine Eichner has developed a cross-genre programme. In the first half of the evening the singer juxtaposes Edvard Grieg’s song cycle »Haugtussa« and Richard Wagner’s »Wesendonck Lieder« with an exchange of letters between Gustav Mahler and his wife Alma. Things are no less passionate in the second half, when Eichner and Steiner dance tango adaptations to works by Bach and Chopin. They are accompanied on the piano by the Russian composer and pianist Ivan Sokolov.
