Le Trio Joubran
Around the World
With their three ouds, the three brothers from Nazareth are the voice of modern Palestine: Sami, Wissam and Adnan Joubran have taken the Arabic instrument to new horizons with bravura – both in terms of playing technique and geographically. In the process, they have a strong need to portray the suffering of the Palestinian people in music.
Their expression ranges from delicate, whispering subtleties to high-tempo virtuosity. These exceptional musicians are open to influences as diverse as India and flamenco, and they have been joined by singers ranging from the Tunisian vocal acrobat Dhafer Youssef to Pink Floyd founder Roger Waters. On their latest album »The Long March«, they transpose the turbulence of the modern Arab world into lyrical tone paintings, adding a cello and percussion to their three ouds.
