Irish folk reimagined
A mixture of old folk music and avant-garde punk: the Dublin band Lankum knows how to take Irish folk classics to the musical extreme. Their arrangements underline the emotional core of the songs – and often bring out the darkest in them. »That’s where our music works a bit like film music,« explains guitarist Daragh Lynch. »It helps make it clearer what the story is about." «
The quartet not only breaks the boundaries of tradition, but also their own. Again and again, the musicians expand their sound palette, play new instruments or the old ones in new ways – violinist Cormac Mac Diarmada, for example, also uses his violin bow for the banjo or the strings of the piano. A unique sound and an equally incomparable live experience!
