»Koyaanisqatsi« / GoGo Penguin
Elbphilharmonie Summer
The GoGo Penguin trio from Manchester calls its rousing mixture of modern dance music and contemporary jazz »acoustic electronica«. The three charismatic Brits have created a new soundtrack for the cult film »Koyaanisqatsi«, Godfrey Reggio’s 1982 critique of civilization, which originally featured music by Philip Glass. Mesmerising landscapes are juxtaposed with the mechanical pulse of the metropolis, and the new music further intensifies the hypnotic pull of the images, with their extensive use of time lapse cinematography.
