Kammerakademie Potsdam
Reference Works of Classical Music in a Moderated Concert
Ludwig van Beethoven and Igor Levit – in the Beethoven anniversary year of 2020 the two are simply inseparable. For that, Levit, who was born in Nizhny Novgorod in 1987 and grew up in Hanover, is indebted to the great composer: after all, the pianist’s meteoric rise began with the recording of Beethoven’s challenging last five piano sonatas. Beethoven’s works have been a thread running through Levit’s life ever since. And in 2020 he is weaving that thread into a whole rug: not only are the Kammerakademie Potsdam and their chief conductor Antonello Manacorda accompanying him with Piano Concertos Nos. 3 and 5, they are also – with the »Coriolan Overture« – throwing in some more Beethoven of their own.
