Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith
»Let’s Turn IT Into Sound«– Hamburg International Music Festival
Like candy-coloured magma
When a neighbour lent her his synthesizer, it was all over for Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith. The classically trained composer and indie-folk musician has been creating dreamy soundscapes with her modular Buchla 100 – a model from the 1960s – ever since. Swirling harmonies, shimmery beats and Smith’s own voice are layered over each other, bubbling sporadically »like candy-coloured magma« (Pitchfork). With her latest album »Let’s Turn It Into Sound« and hypnotic visuals, the American musician now performs in the Elbphilharmonie Recital Hall.
