Julien Libeer
Pianomania
The Belgian Julien Libeer is one of the most exciting pianists of his generation. After studying in Brussels and Paris, he perfected his craft under acclaimed pianist Maria João Pires. He also received support and inspiration from Alfred Brendel and from Gerhard Schulz of the Alban Berg Quartet. Libeer’s programme in the »Pianomania« series combines the preludes of the French Romanticist Gabriel Fauré, which lie somewhere between romanticism and impressionism, with works by the Russian composer Alexander Scriabin, some of which are inspired by Chopin’s tonal language. As a very special rarity, Julien Libeer also performs three preludes by the Italian composer Ottorino Respighi that are based on the distinctive sound world of Gregorian choral music.
