Jimmy Webb
Legendary American songwriter / Replaces concert from 18 March 2024
The man behind the hits
He is a composer, author and performer and was named one of the 50 best songwriters of all time by Rolling Stone in 2016: Jimmy Webb. He has written hits for stars such as Frank Sinatra, Glen Campbell, Barbara Streisand, Nina Simone, Isaac Hayes, Art Garfunkel, Linda Ronstadt, Tony Bennett and Josh Groban. His first platinum album »The Worst That Could Happen« was followed by classics such as »Up, Up and Away«, »By the Time I Get to Phoenix«, »Wichita Lineman«, »Galveston«, »All I Know«, »Didn’t We«, »MacArthur Park« and the famous »Highwayman« for the country supergroup around Johnny Cash. Webb wrote the film music and songs for the animated film »The Last Unicorn«. Now he is taking to the stage himself – a rare chance to experience this songwriting legend live.
Please note: This event replaces the cancelled concert from 18 March 2024. Tickets purchased for the postponed concert are valid for this event.
Webb wrote music history as a composer – it’s impossible to imagine the charts over the last few decades without him. One of his biggest fans, Frank Sinatra, even called Webb’s »By the Time I Get to Phoenix« the »best song ever written«. But Webb doesn’t just pen hits, he also performs them: the multi-Grammy-winning musician has also been a successful artist for three decades and has released five critically acclaimed solo albums. What an honour, then, that he is giving his first live performance in Germany at the Elbphilharmonie!
