Jewgenij Kissin / Piano Recital
Beethoven / Chopin / Brahms / Prokofiev
At one with the music
He is one of those pianists who merge completely with the music; from whom the sound of the keyboard seems to issue forth like an elemental force. Evgeny Kissin has been impressing audiences everywhere with his extravagant virtuosity for more than 30 years, and since his famous appearance aged 17 at the Berlin Philharmonic’s New Year’s Eve concert under the baton of Herbert von Karajan, he has maintained a reputation as a reserved pianist devoted solely to the music.
In addition, though, he is also a very political person: he was one of the first artists to take a stance against his native Russia and vehemently condemn its war of aggression against the Ukraine, and this brought a further facet of his personality to light. Nonetheless, music will always be his prime means of expression, as will be shown once again by his recital in the »Master Pianists« series.
