Jess Gillam, Saxofon
Rising Stars
Boundaries? No such thing!
She performs Bach and Bowie, Shostakovich and Kate Bush, and hosts her own weekly classical music show on BBC Radio 3: Besides being a dazzling virtuoso on the saxophone, Jess Gillam is also a passionate ambassador for her instrument. At aged 17 she was the first saxophonist to win the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition. Two years later she was the »undisputed highlight« (BBC) of the prestigious »Last Night of the Proms«. She brings a diverse programme to her »Rising Stars« concert that transcends genre boundaries with a natural effortlessness - ranging from Georg Philipp Telemann to Meredith Monk and from Kurt Weill to Astor Piazzolla.
