Jamie Saft Trio

Visit from New York’s Downtown Scene

Opera, folk music, heavy metal, jazz – the highly versatile pianist and keyboarder Jamie Saft has been playing in New York’s Downtown scene, both as a sideman and also under his own name, since the mid-1990s. In 2014 the Queens native set up his own jazz trio together with the well-known, melodious percussionist Bobby Previte and living jazz legend Steve Swallow on his very cantabile electric bass. Musicians like Horace Silver, Jimmy Smith and Joe Zawinul influence Jamie Saft’s compositions as much as his long-standing collaboration with John Zorn, the grand seigneur of the New York avant-garde.
