James Rhodes
Piano & Words
Description
James Rhodes is different than other concert pianists: his concert attire consists of t-shirts and sneakers, and he has Sergei Rachmaninov’s name tattooed in Cyrillic letters on his right forearm. However, what has caused a sensation above all else is Rhodes’s autobiography »Instrumental«, which is »doubtlessly the wildest book ever written about the blessings of classical music« (Bayrischer Rundfunk).
This evening, James Rhodes plays Beethoven, Chopin, Prokofiev and, in particular, Bach for an audience that doesn’t often find itself in major concert halls. And Rhodes speaks about his programme, about his life and about the beauty of music – in a haughty tone, crude and in all sincerity.
