The Texan-born musician James »Blood« Ulmer – who playfully blends rock, blues and jazz in his concerts – first came to attention in Germany at the Moers Jazz Festival. Having fallen into obscurity somewhat, the 75-year-old now rises like a Phoenix from the ashes – and that as a solo musician as well as a guest at the side of jazz greats such as Mats Gustafsson, Bill Laswell and Vernon Reid. Ulmer now comes to the Elbphilharmonie with his unique guitar sound and the »Chicago Blues« programme.
