International Mendelssohn Festival
»A perfect conclusion«
Grand finale
The last concert in the Festival places chamber music formats in the limelight that were overshadowed for a long time by the string quartet genre. The string trios that Beethoven wrote in his early years are among the pieces not often heard in concert. And no fewer than 10 musicians put on a grand finale with the »first performance« of »An der schönen grauen Elbe«, a tribute to the City of Hamburg with melodies from Franz Schubert to Johann Strauss, arranged by Fredrik Schwenk.
