Herbert Pixner Projekt
The South Tyrolese musician Herbert Pixner and his band specialise in »handmade« instrumental music from the Alps. Between them, the four musicians play a huge number of instruments, among them – as you might expect – the button accordion which is so typical of the Alpine region. Pixner also plays the clarinet, trumpet and horn. The band’s distinctive sound is an Alpine interpretation of flamenco, gipsy jazz, blues and rock. With more than 1,000 concerts under their belts, the musicians of the Herbert Pixner Projekt come to the Elbphilharmonie on their last major tour for the time being – before they take a long break in the coming year.
