The best jazz is timeless! Weltklassejazz erwartet die Besucher bei dem Konzert von Chris Barber in der Laeiszhalle am 22. Oktober 2011. Dann tritt die Traditional Jazz Ikone, Chris Barber mit seiner »Big Chris Barber Band« in Hamburg auf. Chris Barber und seine Band zählten bereits in den 50er Jahren zu den bekanntesten und beliebtesten Dixielandgruppe Europas mit New Orleanscher Jazzprägung. Und noch heute bieten sie Jazz und Swing vom Allerfeinsten. Denken Sie an »Bourbon Street Parade«, »When the Saints go marching in«, »Petite Fleur« oder Miles Davis’ »All Blues«? Während des Konzerts mischt die Band geschickt alte und neue Titel, kombiniert Temperament und Charme mit klassischen Jazz- und Bluestiteln und begeistert das Publikum mit ihrer Spielfreude. Und dann, natürlich, Barbers ganz ganz großer Hit, die Dixie Hymne schlechthin: »Ice-Cream«. Seit vielen Jahrzehnten ist Chris Barber für viele Musiker Freund und Vorbild. Damals waren es The Beatles, The Rolling Stones und David Bowie die von Chris’ Musikeinflüsse inspiriert wurden (lesen Sie was Mick Jagger dazu sagt in »The Stone Alone«). Jetzt sind es u.a. Mark Knopfler und Van Morrisson, die Chris gerne in ihren Bands dabei hätten. Chris Barber wird betrachtet als der Godfather des modernen Blues und Rock. Die zehn Musiker um Barber sind nicht nur Solisten von außergewöhnlicher Musikalität und verblüffendem Improvisationsreichtum, sondern auch Entertainer mit dem sprichwörtlichen britisch-distanzierten Humor.

Since 1908, the Laeiszhalle has been a meeting place for Hamburg's musical life. The neo-baroque Laeiszhalle Grand Hall accommodates over 2,000 guests. (Please note: The Laeiszhalle is a separate concert hall located three kilometres away from the Elbphilharmonie.)

Facilities for ladies are located behind the cloakrooms on all floors. Facilities for gentlemen can be found on the landing between the floors, also located behind the cloakrooms.
A fully accessible toilet for persons with mobility disabilities is located behind the cloakroom on the ground floor (Parkett links).

The Laeiszhalle is a separate concert hall located three kilometres away from the Elbphilharmonie.
We suggest visitors arrive at the Laeiszhalle main entrance not later than 30 minutes before the start of the concert or event. Late seating is not guaranteed and latecomers may not be admitted to the concert hall.
The entrance of the Recital Hall is located on Gorch-Fock-Wall.
