Mendelssohn Bartholdy
A striking tone, a thrilling contrast to the cello and piano and appeals not only to the »alter Fritz« (Old Fritz)? With the flute taking the place of the violin in the upper ranges, the flute trio is an attractive variation to the classical piano trio. In Mendelssohn’s Piano Trio Op. 49, this instrumentation is particularly delightful. Even Robert Schumann could only praise the composer: »Mendelssohn is the most brilliant musician, who was able to see through the contradictions of the time most clearly«.
