Richard Wagner: »Rienzi, der Letzte der Tribunen«
Mit der konzertanten Aufführung von Richard Wagners »Rienzi, der Letzte der Tribunen« in der Laieszhalle startet die Hamburgische Staatsoper in das Jubiläumsjahr 2013. Das monumentale Frühwerk ergänzt die Aufführung der zehn Hauptwerke, die vom 12. Mai bis 2. Juni 2012 in drei Wochen »Wagner-Wahn« gezeigt werden. Am Pult steht Simone Young, die das Werk erstmals dirigiert. Die Uraufführung von »Rienzi« 1842 an der ein Jahr zuvor fertig gestellten Semperoper in Dresden war trotz der Dauer von sechs Stunden ein überwältigender Erfolg. Wegen seiner Länge und seiner großen Kosten nahmen andere Opernhäuser das Werk allerdings nur zögerlich ins Repertoire und wenn, dann mit vom Komponisten gebilligten Strichen. Bei der ersten Hamburger Aufführung im März 1844 stand Richard Wagner selbst am Orchesterpult des Stadttheaters und ruhte nicht, bis das vergrößerte Orchester die Fortissimi zu seiner Zufriedenheit hervorbrachte. 1873 kam Richard Wagner noch einmal nach Hamburg, um für sein Festspielhaus in Bayreuth zu werben. Er dirigierte zwei Konzerte im Stadttheater mit Ausschnitten aus »Tristan und Isolde«, »Tannhäuser« und »Lohengrin« und schrieb dem Philharmonischen Orchester ins Goldene Buch: »Kommt Zeit, kommt Rath, hoffentlich auch die That.«

Since 1908, the Laeiszhalle has been a meeting place for Hamburg's musical life. The neo-baroque Laeiszhalle Grand Hall accommodates over 2,000 guests. (Please note: The Laeiszhalle is a separate concert hall located three kilometres away from the Elbphilharmonie.)

We suggest visitors arrive at the Laeiszhalle main entrance not later than 30 minutes before the start of the concert or event. Late seating is not guaranteed and latecomers may not be admitted to the concert hall.
The entrance of the Recital Hall is located on Gorch-Fock-Wall.
