Benefit Concert for »Ärzte ohne Grenzen« / »Doctors Without Borders«
Deutschlandweit gibt es schon lange eine ganze Reihe verschiedener Ärzteorchester. Da liegt es nahe, die Kräfte der vielen musizierenden Mediziner und Medizinerinnen zu bündeln und in regelmäßigen Abständen zu einem Projekt zusammenzuführen: der Bundesärztephilharmonie. Zur Gründung gibt die Bundesärztephilharmonie ein Benefizkonzert zu Gunsten von »Ärzte ohne Grenzen«.
Der leitende Gedanke des Konzerts »An das Leben« hat einen doppelten Sinn: Zum einen sollen selten aufgeführte Werke zu neuem Leben erweckt werden. Zum anderen setzt die Bundesärztephilharmonie damit ein Zeichen für das weltweite Engagement von »Ärzte ohne Grenzen«. Die Musiker kommen für die Kosten des Konzerts selbst auf; der Erlös kommt ohne Abzug »Ärzte ohne Grenzen« zugute.
Der »Chant funèbre« des französischen Komponisten Albéric Magnard ist ein Werk, das unmittelbar nach dem Tod seines Vaters entstand. Pure Lebensfreude vermitteln hingegen die Ouvertüre und Tanzsuite aus der Oper »Baba Jaga« des slowenischen Komponisten Marko Mihevc. Die komplette Oper ist noch in Arbeit, im Januar 2016 kamen bereits die Ouvertüre und die Tanzsuite in Berlin zur Uraufführung. Der Dirigent Jürgen Bruns hat das Werk eigens für die Bundesärztephilharmonie bearbeitet.

Since 1908, the Laeiszhalle has been a meeting place for Hamburg's musical life. The neo-baroque Laeiszhalle Grand Hall accommodates over 2,000 guests. (Please note: The Laeiszhalle is a separate concert hall located three kilometres away from the Elbphilharmonie.)

Facilities for ladies are located behind the cloakrooms on all floors. Facilities for gentlemen can be found on the landing between the floors, also located behind the cloakrooms.
A fully accessible toilet for persons with mobility disabilities is located behind the cloakroom on the ground floor (Parkett links).

Please note: There are several construction sites in the immediate vicinity of the Laeiszhalle which may make it difficult to get to the concert. Please therefore plan enough time for your journey to the concert.
The Laeiszhalle is a separate concert hall located three kilometres away from the Elbphilharmonie.
We suggest visitors arrive at the Laeiszhalle main entrance not later than 30 minutes before the start of the concert or event. Late seating is not guaranteed and latecomers may not be admitted to the concert hall.
The entrance of the Recital Hall is located on Gorch-Fock-Wall.
