Goldberg Variations III
Yamen Saadi / Sara Ferrández / Pablo Ferrández – FAST LANE
Three Bach fans
Bach’s Goldberg Variations were originally composed for the harpsichord. But like so many of Bach’s works, this epochal variation work also boasts a universal greatness that lends itself to new arrangements. Of the many versions of the Goldberg Variations, the one for string trio comes closest to the spirit of this composition. Three exceptional musicians now embrace this timeless sound architecture: the Spanish siblings Sara and Pablo Ferrández and the Israeli violinist Yamen Saadi.
Sara and Pablo Ferrández come from a musical family. While Sara plays the viola in Daniel Barenboim’s West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, her brother is hailed as a »new cello genius« (Le Figaro).
Yamen Saadi has also made the leap to join the world elite: the young violinist was recently appointed the Vienna State Opera’s new concertmaster. These long-time friends now demonstrate their intelligence, sensitivity and spirit as chamber musicians – in this contrapuntal, melodious and sometimes furiously propelled magnum opus.
