Jazz duos are not something you get to experience that often, especially in the combination of trumpet and piano. In the case of Dave Douglas and Fred Hersch, what at first glance might seem more like a chamber music concert than jazz should satisfy fans of both art forms. Because these great masters have the necessary awareness for perfect interplay, while also remaining free to express their own individual, spontaneous inventions.
