Felix Klieser / Christof Keymer
Schumann / Dukas / Strauss
»The sound of the horn is the soul of the orchestra« – these winged words are Robert Schumann’s and he uttered them at a time when the horn was developing into its current form, the valved horn. With the emergence of the valved horn, the natural horn that came before it underwent a revolutionary renewal. Schumann felt a close affinity to both the horn and the piano his whole life. His Opus 70 is therefore the opening work in this concert programme dedicated to the diverse expressive possibilities of the partnership between the horn and piano, which can be regarded as the secret perfect couple of the Romantic canon.
