Faiz Ali Faiz is regarded as the legitimate successor of the great Pakistani Qawwali master Fateh Ali Khan. His interpretations already belong to the classic repertoire of this musical genre deeply rooted in mystical tradition, in which closeness to God is practised through ecstatic chanting. The master is accompanied by rhythmic clapping, polyphonic singing and the harmonium, which was imported to Pakistan in the 19th century by English missionaries.
On other continents, too, there exists »classical« music that has been practised and taught at the highest level for hundreds of years now. The series »Klassik der Welt« (World Classical Music) presents this musical genres rich in tradition in the concentrated atmosphere of the Recital Hall.
