Born in Lisbon to a family of fadistas, Sara Correia won her first singing competition at the age of 13 and is now celebrated as one of Portugal’s most exciting new fado singers. With her unusually powerful voice, she sings about the things she feels deep inside: grief and sorrow, laughter and love, and a wonderful, searing melancholy.
Fado star Antonio Zambujo, who has already delighted audiences in the Elbphilharmonie numerous times, sang a duet with Correia on her 2022 album »Do Coração« (From the Heart) – and he can’t stop raving about his young colleague: »I’ve always loved listening to her sing. And now, having had the honour of writing a song for her and recording it with her, I feel so happy, so proud and so honoured that I can’t even put it in words. I hope that even more people will get to know her through this album because Sara is good for our health.«
