If the label »sound architect« applies to any composer, then Iannis Xenakis is the one – after studying engineering in Athens, he worked as an assistant to the architect Le Corbusier for twelve years. In cooperation with the Elbphilharmonie, which dedicates a spotlight in its music programme to Iannis Xenakis, architecture students at the HafenCity University Hamburg have, in one seminar course, been exploring the transformation of musical structures into innovative space concepts. The results are revealed in an exhibition on 30 November and 1 December. The exhibition is open from 15:00 to 20:00, and admission is free. The exhibition opens with a talk (in German) featuring the following illustrious guests: conductor Peter Rundel directs two concerts in the Iannis Xenakis Spotlight, Sharon Kanach from the Centre Iannis Xenakis, who was long-term assistant to the composer, and Professor Lothar Eckhardt, who heads the seminar at the HafenCity University.
