Matthias Goerne is not only an exceptional opera and lieder singer. The multi-award-winning baritone is also committed to promoting contemporary music – and rediscovering underappreciated composers. Hanns Eisler can confidently be counted among the latter. As the composer of outstanding vocal and instrumental works, workers’ choruses, Hollywood film music and the GDR’s national anthem, the unconventional artist is impossible to pigeonhole. Matthias Goerne and Ensemble Resonanz demonstrate the breadth and diversity of his creative output in this concert.
