Grisey
Acoustic spaces
»I no longer work with notes, but with tones,« said French composer Gérard Grisey. In the 1970s, he explored the inner life of tones on his computer, making the overtones audible, using them for his compositions and creating a completely new style: spectral music. Grisey’s principal work, »Les espaces acoustiques«, celebrates the art of the transition: the music builds up gradually from a viola solo to a huge orchestra.
