On a ship, below deck is where the most valuable cargo is stored. In the case of the Elbphilharmonie, too, some profound treasures are stored deep in the base of the historic warehouse structure. In the multifunctional Kaistudio, the »Below Deck« series presents the stuff of which tomorrow’s music will be made – curated by the avant-garde Decoder Ensemble. The first to go below deck this season are the musicians of the German-Icelandic Ensemble Adapter, who never cease exploring cross-border approaches to working in various genres. Its aim is to make a genuine contribution to current developments in the cultural scene.
