Ellen Nisbeth, viola
Rising Stars
The viola has often been neglected in the past but it is now fast becoming popular as a solo instrument. Ellen Nisbeth is one of the scene’s most gifted up-and-coming viola soloists. Hailing from Sweden, she studied at the Royal Colleges in Stockholm and London. Nisbeth has won both the Swedish and the Norwegian Soloist Prizes.
Apart from one piece by Brahms, Ellen Nisbeth’s recital is wholly focused on her native region of Scandinavia. The works have all either been penned by Scandinavian composers – such as Edvard Grieg and the Finnish composer Kaija Saariaho – or the Nordic region provides a thematic backdrop – such as in Australian composer Percy Grainger’s »Scandinavian Suite«.
Renovation Work in Recital Hall Foyer: The Recital Hall Foyer is currently not accessible owing to renovation work currently being carried out.
