Daniel Erdmann / Rolf Kühn Quartett
NDR Jazz in the Rolf-Liebermann-Studio
Daniel Erdmann discovered his love for the tenor saxophone at a high school in the USA. Today, not just Die ZEIT considers him among the stars of contemporary German jazz: with Velvet Revolution Erdmann blends avant-garde, pop, swing and eastern European folklore into an extraordinary form of chamber music. At his side are the French violinist Théo Ceccaldi and the English vibraphone player Jim Hart. The trio now make a guest appearance at the Rolf-Liebermann-Studio with their second album »Won’t Put No Flag Out«.
Rolf Kühn is a legend – a first-class clarinettist with a career spanning more than 70 years. He appeared at a young age with Billie Holiday and Caterina Valente and played in Benny Goodman’s orchestra. Later Kühn turned to free and fusion jazz, improvising alongside his brother Joachim and composing music for film and theatre. Rolf Kühn celebrates his 90th birthday with two concerts at the NDR with his new all-star quartet consisting of Lisa Wulff, Frank Chastenier and Tupac Mantilla.
