How does culture become a driving force for urban development? Are cultural icons still contemporary? Is World Culture Heritage a boon or a bane? And how can culture become a driving force for social cohesion? These are the key questions addressed at the 17th International City Congress of the »Lebendige Stadt« Foundation at the Elbphilharmonie. Approximately 750 policy makers from cities and municipalities are expected to attend, including some 200 city mayors. Theatrical lighting artist Michael Batz will perform the »Hamburger Rhapsodie«, dedicated to the Congress, in cooperation with the Felix Mendelssohn Jugendsinfonieorchester, the Jakob Neubauer Quartett, Elbtonal Percussion and organist Thomas Cornelius from 20:00.
