Cristina Gómez Godoy, Oboe

Rich timbres
What an entry into the world of classical music: in 2012 Daniel Barenboim hired the 21-year-old Cristina Gómez Godoy for his Staatskapelle Berlin, where she has been playing solo oboe since, and also sharing the stage with world-class orchestras like the Berlin Philharmonic or with chamber-music colleagues such as Daniel Barenboim, Guy Braunstein and Claire Huangci.
Cristina Gómez Godoy makes her Elbphilharmonie debut with a programme that gathers together several of the loveliest pieces in the oboe repertoire, among them Adolphe Deslandres’s delightful »Introduction et Polonaise« and Benjamin Britten’s highly virtuoso »Temporal Variations«. The programme culminates in a brand-new work written to commission by the British composer Charlotte Bray.
