Craig Taborn
Jazz Piano / Festival »Lux aeterna«
The »New York Times« once described jazz pianist Craig Taborn as a »musical omnivore«. Fusing a range of genres such as punk rock, hip hop or traditional forms is now very common in contemporary jazz. When Taborn does it, however, it sounds like a unique musical language. His often introspective playing is characterised by great individuality, and he is always discovering new sounds on the piano, the synthesizer and the organ. Taborn begins his solo concerts with little melodic and rhythmical units that later develop into larger forms and structures, as if »interacting with metaphysical forces«, as he puts it.
