Concerts for Hamburg

Igor Stravinsky’s »The Rite of Spring« was the source of the ultimate music scandal: at its 1923 premiere, fighting  broke out among the audience. These days, however, the depiction of a heathen sacrificial rite has a firm place in the concert repertoire, and has lost none of its impact thanks to the music’s tremendous rhythmic force. By the same token, Polish film composer Wojciech Kilar has always written music with a clear and strong style that captivates the listener from the outset, for example, in his soundtrack to »The Pianist«.
