Concerts for Hamburg
NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra / Behzod Abduraimov
Antonín Dvořák’s Ninth Symphony »From the New World« is one of the most popular and best-loved pieces in the entire symphonic repertoire. The title refers to America, where the Czech composer wrote his masterpiece, taking inspiration from the music of the American Indians, which he then merged with the musical tradition of his home country. The concert is opened by superstar Behzod Abduraimov with Rachmaninov’s virtuoso gallop over the piano keyboard, the »Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini«.
