Pianist Cédric Pescia is a real all-rounder, playing Renaissance music, for example, with the same aplomb as he does Schumann, or John Cage’s pieces for prepared piano. After studying in Switzerland, he perfected his technique at Berlin’s University of Fine Arts.

In 2002 Pescia won one of the world’s most prestigious piano competitions, the Gina Bachauer International Artists’ Piano Competition in Salt Lake City (USA). Since then he has appeared all over Europe, and is a regular guest at major music festivals such as the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Lucerne Festival and the Prague Spring Festival.

The programme of Pescia’s »Pianomania« recital does justice to his wide-ranging repertoire. In addition to pieces by Italian Renaissance master Frescobaldi that are rarely performed on a modern piano, we hear Bach’s »Goldberg« Variations, for his recording of which Pescia received the utmost critical acclaim, as well as Brahms’s Variations on an Original Theme and the incredibly dense Variations for Piano by Webern.

Please note: This concert was originally planned to take place in the Elbphilharmonie Recital Hall, however it has been relocated to the Laeiszhalle Recital Hall due to renovation work in the Elbphilharmonie Recital Hall Foyer.
