Carminho canta Tom Jobim

Her roots are in the yearning and sorrowful beauty of fado, but Portuguese singer Carminho has now made the leap over the ocean to Brazil. On her new album she reinterprets the songs of the bossa nova legend Antônio Tom Jobim, who died in 1994 – and she deliberately forgoes the oft-recorded classic »Girl from Ipanema«. Carminho is accompanied by the composer’s long-time backing band Banda Nova – among the members are Jobim’s son Paulo and his grandson Daniel.
