Carl-Philipp-Emanuel-Bach-Chor Hamburg / Roman Trekel
Works by Alma and Gustav Mahler
About 80 singers belong to one of Hamburg’s most celebrated choirs: the Carl-Philipp-Emanuel Bach Choir, named after the most famous son of Johann Sebastian Bach. Since 1998, the choir has been active as a freelance choir, but its history dates back to the time when its eponym was still alive. Today the choir devotes itself to an exceptionally wide repertoire, from the Baroque to the modern period, from oratorios to a cappella music. Strong collaborations unite the choir with the Symphoniker Hamburg and the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Hansestadt Lübeck as well as the conductors Philippe Jordan, Andrey Boreyko, Jeffrey Tate and Peter Ruzicka.
