The concert programme of the Elbphilharmonie and the Laeiszhalle cannot go ahead as planned due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. This event has had to be cancelled.

Rio Reiser wrote German music history. As the singer and songwriter of the band »Ton Steine Scherben«, he supplied the soundtrack for the awakening of an entire generation in the seventies with songs like »Keine Macht für niemand« or »Macht kaputt, was euch kaputtmacht« (No power for no-one / Destroy what’s destroying you). In the 1980s he becme known to a large public overnight with solo hits such as »König von Deutschland« and »Junimond« (King of Germany / Moon in June). Tonight, writer and singer Rocko Schamoni and Jan Plewka, singer and songwriter of the band »Selig«, dedicate an evening to Rio Reiser in the Grand Hall of the Laeiszhalle.

Jan Plewka has been successfully touring with »Ton Steine Scherben« songs for many years, while Rocko Schamoni wrote the foreword to Reiser’s autobiography »Der König ist tot - es lebe der König!« (The king is dead – long live the king!). Tonight’s concert brings the two artists together on stage for the first time: Schamoni reads out passages about Reiser’s life, about his conflicts as a political person, as an artist and a lover, and Plewka accompanies him together with Marco Schmedtje in songs written by Rio Reiser.
