CANCELLED: Pro-Log-Konzert der Symphoniker Hamburg
Avantgarde made easy
The concert programme of the Elbphilharmonie and the Laeiszhalle cannot go ahead as planned due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. This event has had to be cancelled – it will not be rescheduled on an alternative date. Ticket buyers and people participating in the order process will be informed by e-mail.
With the Pro-Log concerts, the Symphoniker Hamburg devote their attention for the second year running to unusual composers of the 20th century. The short concerts presented by chief conductor Sylvain Cambreling focus this season on the »intuitive improvisation« of Italian composer Giacinto Scelsi (1905-1988). Scelsi used to record his ideas with the piano, the ondioline – a monophone keyboard instrument based on vacuum tubes – or on tape, had them transcribed and then instrumentalised them. The result was celestial-sounding avant-garde music. Together with the orchestra concerts that follow in each case, the Pro-Log concerts promise new listening experiences and deep insights into contemporary music and its protagonists.
