Hamburg International Music Festival
Please note: Italian pianist Maurizio Pollini has been forced to cancel his appearance in the Elbphilharmonie Grand Hall after falling ill with the flu. Maurizio Pollini keeps intellect and temperament in perfect balance – for example in his interpretations of the works of Polish national hero Frédéric Chopin, with whose music the »miracle-maker Pollini« (Joachim Kaiser) conquered Europe more than 50 years ago. Back then, no one less than Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli was among Pollini’s patrons. In January 2017 the Italian grand seigneur of the piano turned 75. But he is far from tired: »This instrument responds to your desires. That is why I am still excited to be a pianist to this day.«
