Portugal is not only fado. The country with the Atlantic coastline has always cultivated the rich tradition of singer-songwriters, the so-called cantautores. This is shown by singer António Zambujo, who in compositions of his own expands the rough Cante Alentejano of his home region into a modern sound. After his acclaimed concert at the Elbphilharmonie in summer 2018, he is now returning to Hamburg.

In a seductive voice, Zambujo tells of love lost, reflects with refined puns on the uncertainty of feelings, or returns with vivid images to scenes from his childhood. This is music which is rooted in its homeland, but still breathes the air of the world at large.
