Big Mama & The Golden Six

Romanian-born Paunita Ionescu and her international gospel choir Big Mama & The Golden Six have been giving concerts in Germany since 1994. The choir’s members come from the USA, Trinidad, Nigeria, Ghana and Germany: they all grew up with gospel music and are excellent soloists in their own right. On the programme this evening are classics of the genre as well as modern gospel music and passionate soul ballads. One of the ensemble’s particular strengths is free improvisation and outstanding solo inserts.
