Arshid Azarine Trio
»Wundern über tanawo« / Contemporary Iranian Art & Culture
The music of the Paris-based Arshid Azarine Trio varies between jazz chords, Persian scales and Afro-Iranian rhythms, and wanders through a wide variety of acoustic landscapes, from meditative sounds to melodic moments. At the Elbphilharmonie, the trio gives a sample of their latest album »7 Djan«, where they pursue their fascination with Persian mysticism and explore the works of the Iranian Sufi poet Attar. Tonight singer-songwriter and actor Makan Ashgvari, who hails from Teheran, supports the trio.
The four-day festival »wundern über tanawo« gives the public insights into contemporary Iranian art and culture. From 15 to 18 March, artists from the fields of film, music, theatre, literature and the visual arts present their work at the Elbphilharmonie, in the Affenfaust Gallery and at Kampnagel.
