Arcadi Volodos
Piano Recital
He had vanished from the limelight for the last couple of years: Arcadi Volodos, who first entered the international music scene in the mid-1990s and amazed audiences with his virtuosity, deliberately slowed down in the last few concert seasons, radically reducing the number of appearances and also expanding his repertoire. »We’re not robots,« he said in a recent interview, explaining this carefully considered slow down – in favour of more freedom and time for his own artistic development. For his comeback, so to speak, in the »Master Pianists« series, the Russian pianist who now lives in Spain has chosen a subtle programme ranging from Schubert and Scriabin to Rachmaninov.
