Coincidence can be a godsend. After recording a short melody with his electric guitar on a brand-new tape deck in the early 1970s, Achim Reichel later listened back to his recording. What he heard was not one, but many guitar sounds. Without knowing it, his short memo had somehow become looped – a completely new concept in 1970. Inspired by it, Reichel released the album »Die grüne Reise« under the name A.R. & Machines shortly after. Reichel, known then as singer and guitarist in the bands »The Rattles« and »Wonderland«, suddenly became a pioneer of a sound that would later characterise the genre Krautrock. The Hamburg-based guitarist revives »Die grüne Reise« in the Elbphilharmonie Grand Hall.
