Milestone of fusion

The roar of the legendary Woodstock Festival had barely faded when jazz trumpeter Miles Davis retreated to his New York studio in August 1969. In just three days, he recorded his groundbreaking album »Bitches Brew« together with jazz greats like Chick Corea, Joe Zawinul, Wayne Shorter and John McLaughlin.

With its ecstatic blend of jazz and rock – driving rhythms, distorted guitars, improvised solos and sound effects reminiscent of the psychedelic rock of the ’60s – the album became a milestone that sparked the fusion movement of the 1970s. Artists like Herbie Hancock, Jaco Pastorius and the band Weather Report would go on to achieve worldwide fame in its wake. Jazz drummer Bobby Previte brings this high-energy mix back to the stage in his own distinctive versions – always in collaboration with the local jazz scene.

In workshops, he re-arranges »Bitches Brew« with local musicians, making each performance a one-of-a-kind experience. »Hearing Bitches Brew live is something truly special – its depth and energy really come alive in concert,« wrote one reviewer from Buffalo.
