As a »concert hall for everyone«, the Elbphilharmonie not only presents classical stars on stage, but the biggest names in jazz as well. This season, the excellent acoustics and matching ambience provide the perfect setting for a whole series of first-class Elbphilharmonie comebacks: piano icon Fred Hersch celebrates his 70th birthday with a soulful solo recital, guitar prodigy Julian Lage reissues his dreamy album »World’s Fair« ten years later, and harpist Brandee Younger follows up her celebrated Elbphilharmonie debut from 2023. Immanuel Wilkins and Charles Lloyd bring soft saxophone sounds to the Grand Hall with their ensembles, trumpeter Ibrahim Maalouf interprets songs by Egyptian singer Umm Kulthum, and the current grand master of jazz piano, Brad Mehldau, appears in several line-ups at his »Reflektor« festival in March. Brazilian pianist Amaro Freitas, on the other hand, makes his debut in the classic trio format.
