»Work and Structure«: these were the two guiding principles that gave Wolfgang Herrndorf stability during the three years of his battle with cancer. On his blog of the same title, the author of the bestseller »Tschick« documented and commented upon his experiences and thoughts about death. His last communications were then published posthumously in book form. The Ensemble Resonanz combines excerpts from this with Joseph Haydn’s passion music »The Seven Last Words of Christ.« Haydn composed seven slow movements of contemplative, devotional music to the seven last utterances of Christ, as conveyed by the Bible. The actress Birgit Minichmayr, known for her distinctive voice, will intersperse the movements with excerpts from Herrndorf’s texts. Since the 1990s she has been in many performances at Vienna’s Burgtheater.
