Description

We begin – with a breath, a sound, with the thought that everything could have turned out differently. The climate crisis is not a distant storm. It is the whispering in the trees, the crack in the ice – and the silence. Nevertheless, we express our thoughts and feelings in music: it connects times, people, voices and bodies. It does not forget, but it comforts; it accuses, but it opens up. In a world where what divides us is often louder than what unites us, this concert sends a message: music as a bridge between people, opinions, perspectives and facts.

Byrd’s »‘Mass for Five Voices« was composed during times of upheaval. It is a prayer for forgiveness, faith and hope. Ludwig Böhme’s »in the beginning – at the end« recalls the beginning of the world and our responsibility towards it. Eriks Ešenvalds’ »Trees« and Frank Tichelli’s »Earth Song« celebrate nature and harmony. Bernd Franke’s »Es ist das Licht« (It is the light) reminds us that light sustains us, not possessions or power. Byrd’s »Agnus Dei« asks for peace and time.
